Hey guys! My name is Emma L’Abri Jones. I always include my middle name because I think it’s fun and deserves more credit than it gets. I am a sophomore psychology major here at FU, and I’m working on my second level of Chinese classes (highly recommend). Furman has been so good to me in so many ways, and I can’t wait to have you follow along with me this year.
I have moved around a few times, but I went to high school in Flintstone, Georgia (yes, as in yabba-dabba-doo), a small town just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee. There, I developed a love for hiking, music, and psychology, all of which I am able to enjoy as a Furman student. I’m a psychology major because I dream of a career working in the corrections system to help people who have been treated unjustly, and whom the world has not shown love to.
During a regular week on campus, you would most likely see me at RUF large group, running around the lake, getting coffee with a friend (and probably doing homework), at BCM, racking up those CLPs, etc. If you ever come to Large group, there’s a 50% chance you’d see me singing on the worship team, and that is my favorite part of the week!
I love traveling in large or small quantities (my favorite trips have been to national parks on the West Coast), and Greenville is in a prime location for day hiking trips in the mountains or long weekends in Atlanta, Charlotte, Asheville, etc., so if I’m not in Greenville, that is probably what I’m doing.
I love the Greenville area, and have enjoyed getting to know multiple families in the area through church, babysitting, and work. It is a great community to get to be a part of for these four years and I look forward to engaging with Greenville more this year.
I am a thoroughly invested musical theatre fan, which causes me to have limited pop culture knowledge, but you win some you lose some. I love to read and make new friends, so if you see me around, feel free to say hello. If you made it this far, thanks for reading about me! I look forward to a great year!
