Hey wassup hello!
I’m Lauren Ellis.
My close friends call me LALA, but Lauren works too.
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Class of 2018! I am a senior? SAY WHAT? Where has the time gone?!
What can we find you doing on a daily basis?
On a daily basis, you will find me riding my bike on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, eating potatoes in the dining hall, driving around campus with the top off of my jeep, playing the glockenspiel on the marching band field, and planning my next travel adventure. If you run into me on campus, ask me about my semester of study away in China or my obsession with my two beta fish.
Name one student organization you are a part of:
Delta Gamma Fraternity. I went through recruitment the spring of my freshman year and I don’t regret a single moment of my experience as a member of DG. My sisters have encouraged and supported me through every step of my Furman journey.
What’s your favorite class you’re taking this semester?
International Communication with Dr. Janet Kwami. Not only did I take the course because she is an amazing advisor, but I wanted to learn more about how media relations work and differ between nations, especially since I plan on working internationally upon graduation.
Name the last song you listened to:
Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran. It has been on repeat. This past weekend, my roommates and I traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for his concert. Even though we bought nosebleed seats and had to drive 2 hours, it was totally worth it! I highly recommend last minute trips to listen to this beautiful, British man singing his heart out.
What’s your favorite meal served on campus?
Asiago bagel, double toasted with cream cheese. It may seem kind of lame, but I live for asiago bagels on Tuesday mornings. On Tuesdays, I don’t have class until 11:30, so I go to the library at 9:00 to catch up on some readings and papers for my classes. Before I hit up the library, I stop in the new Library Café. The good thing is that you can use your PalaPoints there.
Recommend a movie, a book, or a TV show we should all be reading/watching:
Game of Thrones. ATTENTION: Don’t worry; there are no spoilers here.
Yes, I admit I am a huge GOT fan. I jumped on the bandwagon this past summer and got hooked. I never pictured myself being a fan of a fantasy show that takes place in the Seven Kingdoms where everyone is fighting for the iron throne. I promise it’s worth the 7 seasons. I mean, you will have almost 2 years until the last season comes out, so you might as well jump on the bandwagon with me!
What are you most looking forward to this year?
It’s my senior year! There’s so much to look forward to, yet it is all so sentimental.
Everyone says, “College is the best 4 years of your life. The time will fly by, so enjoy it.” It’s so true. I vividly remember the day I committed to Furman, my summer orientation, and my first meal in the dinning hall. As a senior, I am trying to cherish every moment I have left here at Furman. I’m looking forward to making more memories with the friends that will last a life time, going on spontaneous adventures, walking around the Furman Mall on Saturday mornings, and performing at the halftime marching band performances.
Senior year, LET’S GO!
