For my entire first semester of freshman year, I strongly debated whether I wanted to be in a sorority during my college years. I went back and forth with my parents about going through sorority recruitment. All of my friends were set on going Greek–they even registered for recruitment in the first week of classes. Me on the other hand, well I registered on the very last day possible. I decided last minute I would give it a try.
I have tried it and I love it!
After registering and going through recruitment I can easily say it was one of the best decisions I have made in my time at Furman thus far. I gained so many great friendships through Greek life. But more importantly, I have become a better person because of it. Being involved in Greek life has taught me to hold myself and others accountable in relationships, academics, and other involvements. Furthermore, I have gained a better understanding of who I am and who I want to be.
Being involved in Greek life has helped me find my identity and allowed me to be a part of something bigger than myself.
