Furman’s PalaTHON happened this past Saturday and it was so much fun! and is for an amazing cause! But first of all, what even is PalaTHON? PalaTHON is a six-hour dance marathon and this year it was held in Timmons Area (the basketball arena). You might be thinking six hours is a long time to be dancing, but don’t worry. There was food, lots of games, and basketball! Also, PalaTHON benefits the Greenville Children’s Hospital. The fundraising helps to send kids with cancer and blood disorders to a special camp just for them!!
This event is open for everyone to be involved with! You can even make teams or you can just raise money by yourself. The top six teams for fundraising this year were: 1. Furman Men’s Lacrosse: $6,181.00 2. Alpha Delta Pi: $5,982.00 3. Chi Omega: $5,574.22 4. Tri Delta: $4,576.00 5. Sigma Chi: $3,376.37 6. Heller Service Corps $2,565.20!!! Everyone did such a great job!!!

Savannah Hobbie was the top individual fundraiser and she was part of the Chi Omega team! She raised $3,057.00 for the kids! WOW!!! Savannah is the Director of Operations for PalaTHON so she planned the event along with the Directors and it was her job to oversee everything that was happening. When asked about this awesome experience she said, “PalaTHON is something I’ve been looking forward to being a part of since senior year because I had dance marathon at my high school! It’s for such a good cause and getting to meet the little miracle children brightened my day on Saturday. It was so nice to see everyone come together for the kids. We broke the past PalaTHON record of $38K and I am so so excited to see what we will do next year!”
I think PalaTHON is something that everyone on campus should try to be part of at least once during their time at Furman. It is so amazing to see all the good that Furman students are able to do to help our community here in Greenville!!! I’m very glad I decided to join the Tri Delta team because it was
