Furman has so much to offer on campus that it can be easy to overlook all that our surrounding community has to offer! But part of what makes Furman students so successful in their undergraduate years, is the support our Furman Family gets from the Greenville community. Not only does Greenville have great restaurants, sporting events, theatre performances, and concerts that students enjoy, but our community partners support our students to ensure they are able to make an impact as an undergraduate student. They too, want to ensure our students are set up for success by the time they graduate. Here are just a few examples of how Greenville supports the Furman Family!

PRISMA Health Partnership
Many Furman students are interested in a career in the medical field. Having both a focused in classroom learning experience and out of classroom experience can help determine which path each student wants to pursue. PRISMA Health, Greenville’s hospital system, has Furman as its primary undergraduate partner! This partnership gives Furman students access to internships, observation programs, and research opportunities within PRISMA’s network.

Internships in Greenville
Having an internships as an undergraduate student can be a great way to test the waters and see if a certain career path is the right fit for you. It can also be a great way to start networking in order to get a foot in the door within your desired career path. Furman students have access to a variety of internship opportunities in Greenville, which has been named one of the best cities for young professionals! Whether it be working for a small business, government agency, law firm, or non-profit, Greenville has it all!

M. Judson Booksellers
In 2017, Furman partnered with M. Judson Booksellers on Main Street in Greenville. Also, known as “Furman on Main”, this downtown location gives the Furman Family an even deeper connection to Greenville.
“After M. Judson opened downtown, a big group of my friends and I made a night of going downtown to grab dinner and see the new bookstore. The bookstore was packed full of Furman students and members of the Greenville community. Being able to go to M. Judson downtown was an awesome way to experience a little bit of Furman in downtown Greenville.”

Bon Secours Wellness Arena
The Bon Secours Wellness Arena hosts “Weekends at the Well” which showcase some of our Basketball team’s home games in an arena that can hold 15,000 fans to cheer on the Paladins!
“This past year Furman basketball had the opportunity to play at the Well downtown and it was the best experience! It was so cool having the chance to bring together the Furman and Greenville communities and it really made for some awesome times!”
