Hey friends! Long time no talk!
I am so excited to continue my admissions journey this summer as an admissions intern. After writing blogs as a social media intern all year, I knew that I was a part of something truly special and knew that I had to find a way to continue to pursue this newfound passion of mine- so, here we are!
As for updates in my life, I’ve just been kickin’ it at home in Florida with my sweet fam during the past three months! Of course, I wish that I could be in Greenville right now, but I’m all about finding the silver lining. Over the last few months I’ve been able to have some great quality time to reflect on myself, my goals, and how I can be the best version of myself moving into the second half of my college experience. Speaking of, I cannot believe I’m going to be a junior in the fall!!! It feels like just yesterday I was touring Furman with my mom and sister, falling in love with everything about Furms and GVL. Anywho, feel free to check out my blog “All Things Alex” which is full of every fact you could possibly need to know about me! You can find it here: https://furmanadmission.blog/2019/10/10/all-things-alex/ ! Or, if you want to check out some other things I have written feel free to check out my new lifestyle blog, Absolutely Alex (www.absolutelyalexandra.com)
Little sis graduated from high school! Now we have two dins in the household! My bff and freshman roomie Quinn came down to celebrate with us! We made brunch for Camille’s graduation!
So now that I’ve updated y’all on my life, I thought it would be fun to go over what exactly I’ll be doing through my internship this summer! One of my favorite parts of my job is giving virtual tours! I don’t know about y’all, but I had NO clue what Zoom was before classes moved online, and now I depend on it everyday! If you’re a prospective student I highly encourage you to sign up for a virtual tour– it is such a great way to see our campus from a student perspective. I love that even though the tour is via Zoom, you are still experiencing the same student perspectives you would get if you were on campus. Another option for you is to sign up for a student panel on Friday afternoons! These panels will be four of us interns just hanging out answering both your questions and other common questions asked by prospective students! With that, if you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to reach out!
Another fun part of the internship that I really enjoy is that each of us are paired with counselor mentors and work on different projects throughout the summer! For example, I have the pleasure of working with the social media team this summer which is something I have grown incredibly passionate about throughout this past year! Having counselor mentors is one of my favorite parts of the internship because it allows us to build lasting connections and relationships with staff in the office. Over the past year I have SO enjoyed my time working with admissions! One of the highlights of my weeks was sitting down and writing my blog posts and working on my Instagram takeovers! Luckily, I will continue to write weekly blogs and insta takeovers throughout the summer, and will continue in the fall as I dive back into my social media intern roll.
No matter where you are in your college process, I want you to know that we are all here for you as you navigate this new, unprecedented normal! I know the college search process can be a lot sometimes, and it always helped me knowing that if I had any questions or concerns someone would be there to answer them for me. I am more than happy to be that person for y’all. I can’t wait to share my summer experiences with you!! I hope all of you are staying happy and healthy.
If you have any questions or concerns about Furman please reach out to me! My insta is @alexandra_rick ! And as always, Roll Dins!
Have a happy week!!
