‘MAJOR’ Things !

I’ve always loved school. I loved the routine. I loved the social aspect. But there was one thing that kept me constantly glancing at the clock it hopes to make it go faster…. MATH & SCIENCE CLASS!

The thing about school is, well, you don’t always get to take the classes that interest you the most, but as a declared Communication Studies major at Furman, I am finally able to be in classes that are all about what I love/enjoy learning about. Yes, I still have a few GERs (General Education Requirements) to fulfill, but I have noticed that even in those my professors try and cater our projects towards what each of us is actually interested in.

Let me tell you about my favorite class I’ve gotten to take so far. It’s actually one I am currently taking, so you know it’s a good one if I’m giving it 1st place without even finishing the course yet!

My Digital Storytelling (COM 202) class with Dr. Sturgill is one of the first classes I’ve ever taken that I feel like completely caters to everything I am most passionate about. In this class, we are constantly learning about different forms of digital media and doing new labs to perfect these skills in each class period.

This class has taught me SO MUCH and I never complain about any homework or project that Dr. Sturgill assigns because as nerdy as it might sound, I think my homework is fun.

This class is also special to me because of both Dr. Sturgill and the class as a whole reaffirming that I’m in the correct major and that I know what I want to do when I grow up. Trust me, that is an amazing feeling. This feeling far surpasses just my COM202 class, I have friends who had that magical moment in a Chemistry class or the music building… You’ll find your class, and when you do, MAJOR things will be coming your way. So if you ever need someone to help you with a Digital Storytelling project… I’m your Girl- Rosemary Cruse
